What To Do About Puffy Eyes

Puffy eyes and dark circles under the eyes occur for many reasons, including inherited facial features, allergies, stress, eye fatigue and texture. While certain home remedies such as soothing cucumber slices or even anti-hemorrhoid creams such as Preparation H may temporarily relieve puffy eyes, a more long lasting solution depends on the cause.

Ordinary swelling round the eyes means you have an excessive accumulation of fluids, called edema, in the surrounding skin tissue. Because the skin around the eyes is the thinnest skin in the body, swelling and discoloration can be quite prominent. 

But why does fluid accumulate to form puffy eyes in the first place? Well from a variety of factors, overconsumption of salt which causes fluid retention, allergies, sinus problems, dehydration, fatigue and lack of sleep, stress, crying, aging inherited features. Its simply true!

So what can you do? you can use eye drops for irritated eyes, drink lots of fluids, apply iced compresses, slice cucumbers and apply to your eyes or tea bags, reduce salt, eat potassium rich foods like bananas, splash cold water on your face and get plenty of rest and sleep. 

One of the most common home remedies is hemorrhoid creams for the temporary reduction of puffiness. Be careful to not get it in your eye!
